Yeah, I know I majorly slacked on my reading yesterday. I was out of the house for most of the day and a good portion of the evening. Is that an excuse? No. I could have read a chapter or two last night. Hopefully I can get the kiddos in bed at a decent hour and have enough time to read for a while.

Matthew chapters 9 and 10. (Yes, I know it's technically June 9. I haven't been to bed yet!)

Ok seriously. SERIOUSLY. It's summer, the kids are sick of each other, and BORED. So I go online looking for a recipe for homemade playdoh that I can make with the ingredients I have on hand. (A friend gave me a recipe that called for cream of tarter and I keep forgetting to buy it.) So I found one and modified it a bit:

1 C. flour
1/4. C salt
1/3. C water (add a tiny bit more if it's not quite gummy enough)
Food coloring

First mix food coloring with the water. I can't tell you how much, I just did a good squeeze. Probably 10 drops or so. Pour into a mixing bowl. Add the salt and flour and stir with a plastic spoon until crumbly. Then knead by hand until it is the right consistency.

I made 4 batches - green, yellow, blue, and pink. I split each batch in two so each kid has some of each color. I gave them a few kitchen utensils to use and they're having a blast!

Note: The site where I found the recipe said that it doesn't keep well. I plan to store it in ziplock bags and reuse until it isn't any good. I'll let ya know how long it lasts. If it ruins quickly, no big loss...it's worth it for an hour or two of kiddo fun!

See, this is what I get for never turning on the radio in the house. For a while now I've relied on my playlist of praise music that I've had forever. I never heard this song until a youth group visited our church and sang it on Monday night. Awesome!

So I guess this will not only be for accountability, but also just a general blog where I write about my walk every day.

Great service this morning! Our pastor had surgery on Friday so he's still in the hospital. Please keep him in your prayers! Bro. Ogden preached on Mark 5:25-34 - Reaching out to touch Jesus. He taught us that we not only need to FOLLOW Jesus, but TOUCH him. He is our healer! Praise God!

My reason for starting this blog

Basically, this blog is for accountability. I have decided that to strengthen my walk with Christ, I need to do two things to start. One, I need to start doing a daily devotion. Two, I want to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John straight through. I've given myself 2 months to do so. I'll be using this blog to keep track of my progress.
